A weekend of funfunfun!
So a couple of months ago, I found one of my high school friends, Trinity, on Myspace. I hadn't seen her in 11 years. She lives in TX and it turns out she was making arrangements to come to VA to see some other friends so we made plans to get together.
We hooked up on Friday nite in F'burg and got together with some other mutual friends (one of whom I hadn't seen in over 12 years). Then we went to Richmond and hung out Saturday nite too. SO MUCH FUN and it was so great to see her.
We both commented on the fact that its so easy to fall back into a comfortable relationship with people you've known for a long time. Particularly when they haven't changed much (and that's meant in a good way!!!). I got to thinking how much sense that makes.
Afterall, when you are a kid you are sort of raw and untouched. It becomes harder and harder to get to know people as you get older because you put on all this fakery and I've-got-it-all-togetherness in order to succeed. On the other hand people from your childhood sort of know the "real you". This may all be total drunken bullshit but it really hit me as true when I thought about the relationships I have rekindled over the last few years with friends from my past.
