Cranky Cat
Well, Tanner made it through his surgery fine. Of course, he can't eat kibble due to the excision on his tongue so I have to feed him baby food. Yeah, that's right, HUMAN baby food. Gerber. Beechnut. Pureed beef and gravy. Pulverized turkey. Macerated chicken. Naturally, he loves it. He'll probably refuse to eat real cat food again.
Now we are just waiting for the pathology reports on his biopsy and blood work. I have my fingers crossed that it was just an infection or a benign tumor. I did some research (cursed internet) and found out that squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue is common in older cats... if that's what it is, the prognosis isn't good.
I never thought I'd be one of those middle aged women who spoon feeds her geriatric cat but I guess that's what I've come to. Guess I better start piling up the newspapers and wearing a chenille bathrobe.
