Shit I gotta shout about
So yesterday was a day of new discoveries.
I gotta give props to the America's Best Contacts & Eyeglass people. Their commercials are annoying and they come across as having used car salesmen as optometrists but they really are a sweet deal. I was able to make my appointment online without having to call and talk to a human. The doctor was really nice and professional and despite the fact that I had to wait for a bit they still had a lot of optical staff on hand who were really polite and helpful. Major thumbs up for convenience and good customer service.
My second wonderful discovery is the world of Spanx. While I do love a good hienie paddling, I'm really referring to something different. Spanx is the brainchild of the awesome entreprenuer Sara Blakely - a comfortable hoisery undergarment that holds all your jiggle and bulges in. Praise the lord, this woman derserves a Nobel Peace prize for this invention. She also recently released something called the Bra-lellujah - a hookless bra made of the same jiggle and bulge wrangling substance as the Spanx. I was skeptical. Particularly since the damn thing costs $34 -- a little less than the price of 3 Wal-mart/Fruit of the Loom specials and contains no actual underwiring or adjustable straps. But, holy cow. This thing is wonderful. Its like a hammock of clouds holding my boobies aloft. Now, I wouldn't jog in it but for low-impact daily wear it is a godsend. Ahhhhhhhhh.
The additional plus was that I blew the ungodly amount of $$ for the Spanx products at Nordstrom. Nordstrom has the best customer service in the universe and I don't mind spending mad cash there for a good reason. The hosiery sales woman (I have to disgress for one moment - it TOTALLY baffled me why the Spanx products were in hosiery and not in lingerie but c'est la vie, it just meant and extra ride up an additional escalator) was super sweet and told me about the summer sale on Spanx and got my phone number so they could call me with a reminder and reserve size and style for me if I wanted. So totally awesome.
I'm reminded of the customer service training statistics that say the average person will tell 10 - 12 people when they have a bad experience but less than 3 when they have a good experience. In an effort to turn over a new and more positive leaf, I post the above info in an attempt to shout goodness to all.

Random Acts of Kindness
I'm glowing. I went to my PO box today to collect a consulting check (thank goodness it came!!! yay! we can eat! and pay bills! but I digress....) and nestled in my box along with some stupid advertisement from Catholic University about HR certs I found a postcard from someone at postcardx.net.
I had totally forgotten about putting my name on there... not to mention totally forgotten to send stuff to the random names I picked off there the day I signed up.
What a wonderful suprise. It really is the little things in life that are good. Scout's honor, I'll work on a tag back for this kind soul as well as the people I had originally intended to send to.

As I type pant-less.....
....And watching the Simpsons... after I polished off some leftover Arby's chicken fingers....
I've been totally slackerish lately. At least with regard to personal pursuits such as writing, artwork, etc. But for good reason. I finally have a pretty decent consulting gig. And some really random freelance projects.
My head has been full to bursting of ideas. If only I had a million dollars, the ability to clone myself - or else not sleep - and 30 hours in every other day of an eight day week I could execute them all. None of them are great ideas but some of them are kind of worthwhile.
Here's something fun... http://www.lulu.com/... I always thought vanity publishing was kind of smarmy but this company, founded by the Red Hat/Linux guy, seems kinda cool. You can even pay them a fairly reasonable looking fee (as if I actually know anything about publishing) to hook you up with an ISBN and B&N/Amazon distribution. I'm intrigued to say the least.
